Climate Resilient Communities Longitudinal Case Studies

Project Description

The project aims to conduct longitudinal case studies on climate resilient communities across selected countries in the Indo-Pacific region, including Cambodia, Fiji, Kiribati, Timor-Leste, and Tonga. The study is jointly implemented by the Institute for Sustainable Futures (Australia) in partnership with the Cambodia Development Resource Institute, Fiji National University, Foundation of the South Pacific Kiribati, National University of Timor Leste, and Tonga Community Development Trust. Through participatory and locally led research approaches, the project will examine how communities adapt to climate and disaster-related challenges over time and generate evidence-based insights to support climate resilience policy, programming, and adaptive learning.

Project Objective

This joint study implementation aims:

  • To assess changes in community resilience, adaptive capacity, and local livelihoods through longitudinal research and community-based case studies.
  • To strengthen evidence generation and learning for climate resilience programming, policy dialogue, and adaptive management among governments, development partners, and communities.
  • To promote inclusive, participatory, and locally led research processes that integrate GEDSI principles and traditional knowledge systems into climate resilience initiatives.
