On 25 August 2023, CDRI organised a book launch event at Raffle Hotel Le Royal to present its latest publication on "Agricultural Trade between China and the Greater Mekong Subregion Countries: A Value Chain Analysis". This special book aims to

• Identify the key actors and their interactions along the value chain.
• Compare the non-tariff measures (NTMs) implemented by Mekong-Lancang countries (MLC) and their impact on trade.
• Explore the exporters' or firms' perspective on the challenges and opportunities of exporting to China.

During the launch, our presenters shared the main findings and recommendations of the book, which provide new insights into the agricultural value chains in the region, the current bottlenecks and potentials for growth and cooperation, and the key processes and actors involved in the production, processing, marketing, and export of major crops from the Mekong-Lancang countries to China. The event also featured a panel discussion with experts and relevant stakeholders. The participants engaged in a lively and interactive dialogue, raising questions and comments on the book and its implications for policy and practice.
