Publishing and Communication
Background
Information
CDRI continues to produce groundbreaking policy research that contributes to
the development of Cambodia. Publishing and communication have been part of
CDRI’s work since its establishment in 1990. With the growth of the
institute and the need to disseminate research findings more effectively and
accessibly to a broader audience in Cambodia and beyond, a separate
Publishing and Communication unit was organised in 1997.
At present, most publishing products are in hard copy, like the quarterly
Cambodia Development Review, working papers, the Annual Development Review
and the monthly Flash Report on the Cambodian Economy. Other products
include various promotional materials like flyers, the annual report and
materials for orientation and training.
To disseminate more widely and quickly new information and to offer better
user services, the unit is constantly working to expand other means of
communication, such as the online web site and CD ROMs and VCDs.
To increase further the efficiency of its work, the Publishing and
Communication unit is spending much effort in building relationships with
information users and with various networks like the Federation for the
Development of the Book Sector in Cambodia.
Services Provided
Because of the increase in the range of publishing products and publishing
needs, especially the new challenges in design work, the unit’s activities
have expanded to include editorial services, complete layout and design for
the printing house, photography, translations into both Khmer and English,
marketing, sales and dissemination of CDRI policy research findings.
