This working paper presents the results of the physical component research of the Water Resources Management Research Capacity Development Programme. This research was conducted in Stung Chrey Bak catchment in Kompong Chhnang province, aimed at generating knowledgeable interaction between water use, policy, physical systems and institutional frameworks around catchment management.
It used a participatory action research method for interactive learning and data collection. The stakeholders are the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and their provincial departments, district officials, commune councillors, farmer water user communities (FWUCs) and farmers. Initial findings include stream discharge, rice crop water requirements and issues related to water catchment management.
