Cambodia Development Research Forum, which is co-managed by CDRI—Cambodia's leading independent development policy research institute, and the Community Based Natural Resource Management Learning Institute in cooperation with the Cooperation Committee for Cambodia, the Supreme National Economic Council and the Royal University of Phnom Penh with financial support from the International Development Research Centre, Canada is pleased to announce its research grants for an established research project with two or more researchers, or a research project in an inception phase that requires additional funds to build in a cross-disciplinary component.
OBJECTIVES: Being one of many activities supported by CDRF to build up a research forum and research culture in Cambodia, the collaborative grants aim to provide opportunity for young brilliant students, researchers and professionals that are in need of financial support to conduct their research projects. The grants also aim to promote the research capacity of Cambodian young generation researchers and professionals through learning by doing as well as mentoring from experienced resource persons and professionals.
PRIORITY AREAS FOR FUNDING: The theme of research proposals must fall within the following priority areas of CDRF: (i) agriculture, natural resources, rural livelihoods; (ii) broad-based economic development; (iii) equitable social development; (iv) good governance and decentralisation; and (v) climate change and adaptive management.
ELIGIBILITY: Grants are open to Cambodian citizens, Cambodian researchers based abroad and undertaking research in Cambodia or mixed Cambodian-foreign teams with at least one of the project leaders of Cambodian nationality. Grant applications are welcome from the following institutions: individual researchers, state and private universities, CDRF’s research interest groups, non-governmental organisations, governmental institutions, and research institutes. Eligible projects include:
Established research projects that wish to strengthen comparative scope of their investigations
Research-based conferences that represent cross-disciplinary focus on topics of importance in development issues related to Cambodia’s economic, social and environmental/natural resource management
Ongoing research projects that include communication of results (research findings; research field reports; policy briefs) to multiple audiences representing different disciplines; and
Research that uses the knowledge, methods, and perspectives of one discipline to build knowledge or connections in another
GRANT AWARD INFORMATION: Three grants are awarded per year in the amount of USD4,000 each. The research projects shall be completed within nine months and the grantees are expected to communicate the progress and results of their research to academic, public audiences, and also through the Development Research Forum website, DRF seminars, special interest groups, and national symposiums as appropriate.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

The research proposal should contain a title, a concise description of the research subject, objectives, methodology, work plan and expected outcomes. The applicants should also attach their CV and letter of certification from their institution.
The Grant Review Committee will be set up to review and select the applications. The successful applicants will be informed by the CDRF Secretariat.
